York Barbell’s Auditorium To Feature Major Weightlifting Events
The York Barbell name has been synonymous with the essence of weightlifting since its inception. That includes not only manufacturing and distributing quality weights and gym equipment but also serving as a meeting place for the sport. To that end, many long-time customers know that our corporate campus features an extensive retail outlet store and the Weightlifting Hall of Fame. But did you know that the dynamic facility also boasts an auditorium that regularly hosts major weightlifting events and competitions?
The space in York, PA boasts a full capacity 300-person area with bleacher seating, additional areas for tables and chairs, plus speaker/audio capability, WiFi, and a full-sized projection screen. It’s the perfect venue for competitors, judges, and fans alike. The auditorium even served as the location for the 2015 Can-Am Fire and Police games and York Barbell continues to host about 10 major weightlifting events each year there.
Most recently, in August, York Barbell served as host to the 1st National Powerlifting League meet. On September 30, we will be hosting the USAW 2023 Pennsylvania-West Virginia WSO Championships organized by Fourteen Forty Strength. And then to top it off, from Nov 18-19 the International Powerlifting Association will joint produce the 30th Annual PA Powerlifting Meet along with this year’s national event at the York Barbell Auditorium.
In addition to weightlifting competitions, York Barbell has been the host to various events and meetings and offers its facility to organizations and individuals looking for a large meeting space, stage setting, and or other “out of the box” events. If you are searching for a comprehensive powerlifting facility to meet all of your event needs, reach out to us about your options. We’d also be happy to arrange tours of the Weightlifting Hall of Fame while your participants/employees are on campus.
The HoF is a must-see for fans of the sport, as it relates a diverse history of strength sports, their evolution from mythology to early Olympic Games and from the 19th- and 20th-century amateur and professional strongmen to the current specialized sport of Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and bodybuilding.
